As an educator and mother, I want for success for all scholars. My passion for the success of
students and families of our community stem from the fact that I am the mother of seven, five
sons and two daughters. I have also had the honor to serve in several capacities in the field of
education: teacher, administrator, and mentor and teacher leader. My 25 years of service as an
educator also include tenure in the Saint Louis Public Schools, Riverview Gardens School
District, as well as my current position in the Hazelwood School District.
I earned a doctorate degree from the University Missouri-Columbia (Mizzou) in Educational
Leadership. This degree also included the study of Educational Policy Analysis. I earned both a
Masters and Specialist degree from UMSL (University Missouri St. Louis) in Education
Administration. I am a proud HSSU (Harris-Stowe State University) alumnus, earning a
Bachelor’s of Science degree in Elementary Education.
As a single parent of seven, I understand the value of a quality education. I have a passion for
teaching and learning, thus preparing students to become critical thinkers and productive
members of society. These students go on to become, adult stakeholders who are
entrepreneurs, employees, heads of household and voters who make our community strong.
The needs of our educational community, like our world, are constantly changing, we must
meet that change with energy, effort and innovation. I want to be a catalyst for that change.
I believe in working together as a team and putting the needs of the students first. Listening to
and understanding the changing needs of our students and community help us to better
understand how to use our resources to provide the greatest quality of education as we
promote higher order thinking.
