aftermath of war and its effects on veterans returning to civilian life.
As a CEO/Owner of a Medicare and Medicaid business, this principal understands the
responsibility and social consciousness which is a necessity in this emerging market. As a
business owner of a federally and state operated agency, with a total revenue of twenty million a
year, she knows what it entails to run and manage a government regulated business.
This includes implementing the necessary policies, procedures and processes, to ensure that all
regulations are adhered and met. As Compliance Director, the fiscal “responsibility and
accountability” of required local, state and federal taxation has been the foundation of building
her business. Today her taxes represent approximately three million annually.
Her provision of hospice care has heightened her awareness of the need for alternative methods
of treatment in a controlled environment. Cannabis provides this alternative, particularly as an
alternative to the opioid epidemic which has emerged in our communities and society.
CEO/Owner has experienced firsthand how the nationwide opioid addiction epidemic has
affected families. This epidemic is fueled by healthcare facilities over prescribing opioids for
pain management to drive profits, which has contributed to the decline in global trust in
pharmaceutical companies and the increasing support for alternative medicines, such as
cannabis. CEO/Owner has researched and analyzed the correlation of the legal use of cannabis
to a decrease in the use and prescribing of opioids, as well as cannabis medicinal benefits to treat
a myriad of medical conditions, including cancer and epilepsy. She values the positive benefits
of medical marijuana for patients who may not find relief elsewhere.
